    Hi again.

I am posting again about the problem with unable to use IE8 in windows 7 to download from the member area, a problem that didnt happen on IE7 in XP and doesnt happen on other browsers in windows seven.

Since I have a technet windows licence I was able to use premium microsoft support and they told me the issue is likely eset using non encrypted basic http auth which is now hard blocked by IE8 for security reasons.

can see here on this url it is not a https link.

    http://www.eset.co.uk/Download/HomeEditions

so can eset please either use a more secure auth mechanism or at the very least move the auth and member download page to an encrypted page. For a security company I would have thought that be common sense but it should also fix the auth issues with IE8.

basically right now IE8 is at 100% defaults on a freshly installed test machine.

the smart screen filter box in advanced options is already unticked.

so IE8 default options, not a single option configured.
no security apps installed not even nod32, other than the default windows defender.
    no adblockers etc. running.
critical updates installed from microsoft update.

if eset are going to try and believe its a desktop configuration issue I am ok with them testing over remote desktop, this is a fresh install of windows 7 64bit.

Please try downloading from the ESET.com USA site, there may have been an issue with the UK site.

    Best of luck,
