You might want to list your system specs and any other security software you may have or have had installed

Try re-downloading NOD32, uninstall NOD32 from your computer, restart the computer, delete the Eset folder in Program files, and reinstall NOD32.

Hi there, the known solution for this error is as follows:

The NOD32 installer is unable to extract one of the files used to setup the application.

    Possible reasons for this include:

    • One of the files used by the setup program to install NOD32 is damaged. Delete the NOD32 installer, download a new copy from ESET's web site and install the software again.

    • The temporary file directories, specified in the %TEMP% or %TMP% variables cannot be written to. Verify the folders exist and you have write privileges to them. You may also need to clear the contents of the folders before trying to install NOD32 again.

To check the temporary file folder variables, right-click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties from the popup menu. The System Properties window will appear. Click on the Advanced tab and verify the paths specified for the %TEMP% and %TMP% variables under User Variables and System Variables exist.

Please check that the following files exist:

    C Drive> Windows> Temp

    C Drive> Documents and Settings> (User Name) XXXXXX> Local Settings> Temp

Do the "Temp and TMP" folders exist in "Environmental Variables" when you right click on My Computer as per the screenshots found in this link? https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=764434#post764434

When you then navigate to the folders mentioned in "Environmental Variables" are they actually there?

Sometimes the only method is to delete and reinstall the Temp folders.

You can also try running this file http://www.nod32.it/getfile.php?tool=settmp it will set both the user and system TEMP/TMP variables to c:\windows\temp. Just make sure the folder exists.

    • A problem with the file system on the disk. Try running the CHKDSK (Windows NT 4.0, 2000, XP and 2003 Server) or SCANDISK (Windows 95, 98 and Millennium Edition) programs to fix the problem, then try installing NOD32 again.

    • A physical error with the disk. Replace the disk before trying to install NOD32 again.

    • The user does not have write-privileges to the directory set to the SIZE="-1">%ProgramFiles% variable. Make sure the user installing NOD32 has permission to create files and folders in this directory. Also, verify the user is a member of the Administrators group before trying to reinstall the software.

The installation drive (typically C: ) needs to have permissions for the correct users and groups added (or adjusted) for the installation to proceed.

To check the Registry Permissions complete the following:

    Click on Start
    Click on Run
    Type in regedit
    Click on OK
    Right Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Click on Permissions
    Click on Advanced
On the “Permissions” tab and make sure at the bottom of this window the following lines are ticked:

    • Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here.

    • Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects.

    Cheers :D
