Tried to install NOD Antivirus 5 x64 on my Vaio VPCZ11 Win7 Pro x64. Installation and activation went without a problem but after rebooting the os does not go beyond the welcome screen. After a hard reset and booting into safe mode sytem eventlog shows an error: Service controlmanager event id 7022 Eset service didn´t start correctly ( maybe badly translated from german).
Uninstalled V5 reboot reinstall => Same problem

Any hints to get it working?

    best regards

Same problem here. I need 3 or 4 reboots to start Windows complete.
    No problem with 4.2.*

    Hello,

    A couple of questions:

Did you perform a clean install or upgrade over a previous release?

What path did you install the software to?

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

Run or search msconfig in the start menu and disable the ESET service, apply and reboot.

While I do not have any suggestions as to what may be the cause of this issue - stopping - any services or any MSCONFIG items. is NOT recommended.

Wait for someone from ESET to fully respond to this issue before proceeding.

tried both - upgrade over 4.2.71, 2nd try uninstalled NOD32 reboot installed V5 :hang at welcome Screen.
    Installed to D:\nod32
Disabling eset service solves the hang, but of course nod32 does not work then.
On my other PC v5 works without problems(w7 pro x64, Upgrade Over 4.2.71, same installdir)

I don't think that is suitable advice in this case

If you look here, you will see there are similar problmews
The cure appears to be to make sure Nod is installed on the system partition. That is normally drive C:\
Eset are looking into this problem but so far the vast majority ( if not all) of the affected users appear to have installed Nod on a separate/different partition not the same partition windows is on

Not sure if the problem depends on the installdir. 2 Computers with identical installdir(not the System Partition). One Works, the other does not.
The difference could be the Internet Connection. The working pc has a stable DSL Connection via LAN. The Notebook has wlan(cannot tell if its already connected at the hang) and a wwan Connection not dialed in at Startup.

By the was: could we join this thread with the one, dvk01 mentioned above.

    Hi tomha,

Yes, this is a known issue and we're currently investigating it as stated on that post.

    Thank you.

Yes, i uninstalled, rebooted and installed v5 in the default location and now it seems to work.

Maybe helpful: When installing not on systemdrive at uninstall some registry keys cannot be deleted, the program dir isn´t removed and egui.exe is executed at the next reboot.

Wondering why V5 works without problems on my other computer and even is installed on drive D:

I'm glad to hear you uninstalled the program by disabling the service.
As stated before, some additional steps may be required as disabling the drivers before trying to uninstall the program in the next reboot.
