NOD32 5.X Stuck in Startup Scan

I am not sure if my problem with one of my Windows XP Pro 32 bit PC's is being caused by NOD32 4.2.71.2. Please offer some comments/suggestions. Is there a way to "kill" NOD32's startup scan? My other two Windows XP Pro 32 bit PC's with the same version of NOD32 are not having any problems. See the following forum Post.

    Thanks in Advance.

I uninstalled NOD32 5.X using the ESET Uninstaller in Windows Safe Mode. I am beginning to think that the problem may be only related to Windows somehow getting corrupted. Windows seems to work OK now except that it hangs during shutdown.

I found out that my problem was not related to NOD32. I had a failing internal SATA backup hard drive (Not the hard drive which has the Windows System Partition.).
