    Hi there!

    Installed the RC1 on 11. Nov 06.

Is it possible that the last Update for NOD 2.7 was on 11. Nov 06?

Normally ESET updates their signatures at least twice in a day. Or does the RC1 not include Sig-Updates.

    Greetings

    Timo

p.s. I downloaded the current RC1 and inserted my commercial key for 2.5

there aren't updates EVERY day... then there are days with 7 updates - it's all driven by the threats out there! No need to worry though - NOD32 is still protecting you, and the heuristics has the best chance of any program to keep you safe from variants of new threats, even without a definitions update.

    Not Necessarilly...

Nod32 doesn't detect this new trojan called IE7 Setup... I sent a copy of it to Eset for analysis...

Ah sure the same can be said for all vendors. There is no such thing as 100% protection. As good as ESET's proactive detection record is... it wont detect everything - not even close. No one can or ever will be able to. Pointing out what is and isn't detected here on a forum is so pointless. This is a new Goldun variant - I'm sure ESET will add detection soon.

Every antivirus misses samples every single day, so to say any antivirus cannot protect you because it misses a single sample is non-sensical.

Also a typically defensive statement about NOD32... LOL..
Don't worry though, I use the product.. I am just saying the other argument is not "100%" necessarilly true too,

Anyways, I saw the definitions were updated recently, after I sent the sample. NOD32 still doesn't detect it...

Please don't take the defensive, I submitted the sample, didn't I?

I do not mean to come across as defensive, sorry if you took it that way. My point was that stating, in an antivirus product's support forum, that it cannot provide protection because it misses a single sample, is not helpful.

If nod32 misses a sample it's best to email it to eset as soon as possible for them to add it, commenting about it in a support forum will usually not get it added any quicker.

    Hello,

The production version of NOD32 has been released. For more information, please see this thread. Can you please install that and see if it resolves the problem? Thank you.

The threat is detected regardless of the version installed, even obsolete versions of NOD32 would detect it perfectly. However, it's strongly recommended to use the most current version 2.7, which will be available as an automatic program update some time soon.
