I know symantec av is better than norton but is it better than nod32? According to http://www.eset.com/products/compare.php, it only mentions symantec. Do they mean Symantec AV or Norton?
Also, are the latest comparisons done with the latest versions such as those in the title of this thread?
Some of the Kaspersky licences are cheaper than those of NOD32. How does Kaspersky compare with NOD32 in system resource usage (performance) and AV?
    Thx.

    this forum is biased!
i thought symantec was norton, hmm.

the corporate version is norton but a more basic layout, less ram usage and less pc performance needed to run it.

id choose that over the other 2, then ... erm kaspersky, then nod32.

but all are very very very close, so no problems choosing any. o_O

There are people who argue that Kaspersky has the lowest impact and others who say NOD32. I'm running Kaspersky at the moment and it's low enough impact to be of no noticable impact on my PC. My experience suggests that NOD32 is slightly lower impact but their is very little in it. The odd person gets really poor performance on their setup from either. Trial them and decide what works best for you.

This will also help with my decision. I don't use credit card so does Kaspersky provide direct deposit, cheque or cash payments?
    Thanx.

Also, which should I try: Kaspersky AV 6 or IS 6 or both? Is the IS bloated? How do I uninstall these 2 completely after trial? Thx.

if u need a firewall then try KIS 6; and no it is not bloated. both programs let u choose the components u want to install and they run very light.

After trial, just uninstall them as u would any other program.

there is a KAV/KIS 6 removal tool (direct download) but its normally not needed.

I've got Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spyware Blaster.
I'm not sure if I need a firewall. I can use Windows Firewall if that's OK.
I do P2P, gaming, net browsing and IM.

EDIT: Or if Windows Firewall is really that weak, is there a free quality firewall that doesn't compromise system resources? I heard Comodo is really good but it slows down the computer?
WSFuser, the link to the Kaspersky remover doesn't work. On Firefox 2, it says unable to connect.

    Thx.

I use NOD32 for the proactive heuristics capabilities.

Please stay op topic. Feel free to start a new thread over on the "other firewalls" subforum to discuss firewall issues, so we keep all nice and tidy ;)

I have used both KAV and now NOD32 and for me KAV 6.0 slowed my computer more than NOD32 does. I am not knocking KAV 6.0 because it an excellent AV. I will only use NOD32 or KAV on my computer.

Nod32 is the best AV product that I have used.

Kaspersky Internet Security has very low system impact on my PC, especially considering it has a firewall and HIPS thing with it... there was another thread here somewhere where NOD and KIS users had verry close mem.usage. supprising seeing as KIS has so much more. I also like NOD as a AV, but hate its GUI.
Kaspersky wins for me due to more options (such as HIPS), light on CPU and nice GUI. If NOD changes its GUI, it'll be second on my list of fav. AVs after kaspersky of course!

Is HIPS part of Kaspersky AV or only KIS?

SAV has the same if not better detection as it has settings to detect more malware than the home version of norton. plus it has a tamper proof function.

NOD32 does not have HIPS but it does have heuristics.
