Hi all. Here is my problem. Ok if I change the settings to tell NOD32 to scan run time packers and archives and then run a scan it will pick up a trojan java virus in one of my sun java files. Ok so ive got a red reference in the scan log. Scan then continues till it reaches the end of the scan and then just finishes and displays main screen back. No option to clean or do anything with the file. If I look in the NOD32 scanning log it says that it is still scanning even thou it is finished. Now is this a bug/error etc. o_O

    Hi Rastaagirl2000, welcome to Wilders.

Can you please run a scan with Nod32 while in Safe Mode, as described in the steps found here.

    Hope this helps.

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

Isnt the proceedure you are suggesting a bit extreme? Below is what shows in the log as the possible trojan.
    Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\javainstaller.jar-3c936701-7e993128.zip »ZIP »javainstaller/InstallerApplet.class - Java.IstBar trojan.

My PC is as far as I am aware is not infected in any way by viruses or spyware etc.

You could clear your java cache and rescan with NOD and see what you come up with.

All I have suggested is a scan in Safe Mode, and pointed you to a link where placing your computer into Safe Mode is discussed, as well as making sure your Nod32 is set right for the scan…

    Cheers :D

I have attached a copy of the NOD 32 Scanner logs so you can see what is happening. I shall try your safe mode proceedure. But the problem with the log has happen to me previously thats what I am asking about.

OK, what I would suggest is getting it clean, by both:

    a) Windows Control Panel> Classic View> double click on Java Plug-in> Cache> Clear.

    b) Run a scan in Safe Mode to be certain.

    Then do the following:

    c) Download a FRESH copy of Nod32 from www.nod32.com

    Uninstall your current version.

Remove the Eset Folder from C Drive> Program Files.

Install the FRESH copy of Nod32 that you downloaded above.

    d) Take a look here for further discussion on security and how to make your system that much stronger and here for more.

Let us know how you go…

    Cheers :D

The log file is in suspended state. If you try to delete it from within NOD32 its says it is in use which it is. The previous image is after scan has completed control centre is closed and opened again.

Ok offending java file removed. PC scanned in safe mode all clean nothing shows up. Uninistalled. Fresh copy of NOD install. Installed. Rebooted. Yada yada. Ran a full scan. Scan completed. Log still shows scanning. Look at the attached file to see what happens if you try to delete the entry.

Did you delete the Eset Folder from C Drive> Program Files before installing the FRESH copy of Nod32?

    Cheers :D

    Hello Rastaagirl2000,

Well, I'm not sure why you're getting that error message popping up. Could you try the following please?...

Follow this path C:\Program Files\Eset\logs\nod32 ....and there you should find a bunch of log files. Delete them and run a scan again. How do things look now?

(Apologies for nobody from Eset responding sooner.... )

    Bandicoot.

Tried that deleted the .dat files. Ran the scan same result. Scan finishes. Log file show that it is still scanning even though it is finished.

Have you tried disabling the scanning of archives?

Can you see if this fixes the issue first.

You can always scan a downloaded archive by right clicking on it.

    Cheers

Excellent, now we are getting somewhere.

Can you post a copy of your logs to see if there is a particular file that it gets stuck on...

    Cheers :D
