Looks pretty darn good to me.

That's my vote..NOD32, especially since your rig is brutally light on RAM (unless you're running Win98...hopefully you're not attempting 2K or XP on 128 megs....ack...)

Depending on your system setup as well as you personal preference I would either suggest Avast! Professional or BitDefender 9 Standard. These two seem to both be top notch in many ways and not just av tests which we all know can be influenced by many factors in addition to the products actual performance attributes. Anyway, why not trial both (one at a time) and see what you think?

about ressources, I would recommend you Avast Pro, very light ( trying it for few weeks now: few process running - 4 or 5 only, few cpu, etc ),

... and must be as good as any Kaspersky...

RAM is probably the key constraint in this case and I also agree with F-Prot/Dr. Web if NOD32 is not in the mix...

    hi

first thanks everyone for good suggestions :)
about the RAM thingy: this computer is used for office things; to make word documents, excel spreadsheets, send/read email and some browsing. you dont want to spend on RAM just to be able to run an antivirus :D

renewing nod is an option, seems to be leading now. it wouldnt be expensive, about 25 € if i remember correctly .. very good value for money. FYI i'd like a change but ive been very happy with nod32, so its still in the game
also as i already have a license for drweb i'd be able to get a second one for a good price. the "value for money" factor is very good with drweb too

ok looks like renewing nod is leading now, more suggestions ?

Increasing the ram would improve practically every programme speed on your pc not just to run an av.Also if your pc is just for browsing occasionally then perhaps one of the free "light" avs like antivir may suffice.AVG or avast may struggle with the ram issue. You have a better spec than mine ( i have a p111 733 )and kav runs just fine using the high speed setting for real time and recommended for on demand.I do however have 256meg of ram.I think the extra 128 would make a very noticable addition to performance all round.

I think the original poster knows this and deliberatly crafted the question so as to exclude an increase your ram solution.

With only 128 mb of ramm, your choices are going to be limited. Why not give f-prot and dr web a try. I don't believe you will be able to run bitdefender standard. My opinion, and you know what they say about opinions :D is to try out all the antiviruses. Only then can you make a logical choice.

Since you've excluded all the kav based antiviruses. My reccomendation would be nod32

DrWeb or VBA32.. Both light, and strong.

I would stay with NOD32 because it also provides good Proactive, zero-day, detection with their Advance heuristics.

If you are going to change, I'd recommend you try an a/v before buying a license.
    I like Vba32.
Although you don't want to increase RAM, I echo the sentiments already posted about increasing it.
