NIS2006

My friend was working in a non-profit organization and when leaving the org, they gave him the NIS2006 original CD along with other original software CDs.
He gave me this CD as I gift but I just copied it and returned it back to him.
Is is legal to use this CD on my PC?

 

The cd is not important in this case , the cd key is ... If you two use the same serial i think it is illegal. If your friend doesnt use you could use this serial to register NIS 2009 , it is a superb product

 

As already mentioned the license is associated with the key code, not the media. If the key code has not been used then you could activate the software with it, however there is no point in installing a security product from 2006. Install the trial version of NIS2009 instead and use the key to activate it. If you can't find out beforehand you will be told during activation whether or not the key is expired.

 

I suggest that your friend does not install NIS06; just download, install NIS09, and activate it using NIS06's key.

 

Intel corp. integrates NIS 200x in the driver installation CD, the blue colored CD that has "Intel Express Installer" printed on it. Is there is free upgrade possible in this case?

 

Yes, that is possible. Keys migrate from 2006 ==> 2009
