    Eh? What? No...

As far as I can see is the same engine as current (or soon to be released?) Kaspersky Enterprise versions, i.e. Version 8. Options for Heuristics scanning and IChecker/ISwift have been added.

    Cheers,
    Fax
EDIT: Interesting, I see also some heavy optimization of the memory use as compared to previous versions. Vsmon.exe 12MB and zlclient 2MB. As compared to 40-60MB vsmon I had. Scanningprocess.exe (AV portion) has disappeared, it seems all managed by vsmon.

    oooooooooooops
    sound good to me
sorry i did not know that exactly
if that is true i might as well use my IS licence in the future
i like ZA for their nice clean interface and the fact that they use KAv but since it remained to 6 i ditched it a month ago. Time to go back i guess

With the usual warning: ZA is not a clone of KAV... there are two completely different products with different features and options. But yes, it was time for Kaspersky Lab. to update their SDK AV package.

I guess it did not really make sense for them to have two different lines of signature updates to mantain.

KAV SDK 6 is perfectly fine... sometimes the fever for the 'latest' is not always fully justified. It is still having a detection similar to latest retail KAV and it is still used in Kaspersky Enterprise solutions. Security is made by the full package and not the single features in isolation.

Same as ever and same as KAV. Email: newvirus at kaspersky dot com. Send the file in a password protected ZIP, include the password in the e-mail.

ZA used the InoculateIT engine from Computer Associates for a long time in the past (I think until their seventh version) ;)

No, not even. It was CA VET Engine back in the ZA 6 days.
A very very light engine, the detection too :D

Yes the CA engine is a joke. Moving to KAV was a good choice. Now if only another firewall vendor would use a better AV engine in their suite.

New KAV engine works as advertised, light and fast.
RAM/CPU much better than previous version. Autolearn or connection with the remote ZA database seems to have slight problems.

There is a new program control function "Timing Attack Prevention" that I would be curious to know what it does... and... I cannot beleive to my eyes, LOL, they finally accepted to fix the PC flank leak test!!!

For the rest very stable to be the first beta.

    Cheers,
