I'm totally new to Acronis. I don't want to install Xp every time from scratch along with drivers. I guess Acronis True Image does allow to take backup of Windows partition and have it restored at a later time.
Currently I have a fresh installation of Xp with drivers. Nothing else. I want to make a backup (or is it image) of the partition. I also want to write that backup/image to a DVD which would be bootable and hence will help me out when I want to install Windows again.

I took backup of the partition and got a ".tib" file. How do I proceed to make a bootable DVD which can restore this image?

Can anyone help me out please. :D

There's a whole thread in the forum for doing just that. But I don't know the link offhand.
The other way to achieve your goal is to make the bootable Rescue CD from the installed True Image software. This CD has the basic Backup, Recover, and Clone functions. Then you should backup the entire hard drive and keep the Image on another hard drive, external or internal. For another level of protection, you can burn that Image to dvd media. If you intend to do this, when you make the Image you need to specify a split size that will fit on dvd media.

I guess its a pretty basic question, but I couldn't find a thread even after browsing through 10 pages. :(

    Hello sexie,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We are sorry for the delayed response.

Please notice that when backing up to a removable media (CD or DVD) you can make the media boootable in addition to the image. It will allow restoration of the image to by booting with the backup image media, as well as some other operations. You can set this option at Tools -> Options -> Default Backup Options -> Media Components.

Please refer to chapter 5.3.8 of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home User's Guide for more details.

    Thank you.
