    I've updated NOD32 V3 to V4 yesterday and also I've updated Spy Sweeper 5.5.7.124 to new release 6.1.0.100. The computer runs smooth and no conflicts so far. Start up-OK, shot down-OK. I would say that both, NOD and Spy Sweeper had been improved, but I'm curious to see what other users think.

    I'm frustrated and disappointed...:mad:
    One day latter, the computer freezes (couple of times) in the middle of surfing the internet and I had to press ON\OFF button to shut it down. And I know is Spy Sweeper, it happened before with version 6.0. It's already on my nerves, I'm trying for long time to make it work, but every version latter than 5.5 failed. They stated ... "this version is even better in any..." and I see it's getting worst. Webroot needs to understand that we need a reliable, fast and light product, we don't need any online back up, any ask bars, monitorings off all kinds, they need to focus just on antispyware.
    Now my question is: With NOd32 v4 do I need an other real time Antispyware or not and if the answer is Yes, what would you recommend for real time?
    I have already as On Demand: Superantispyware and Malwarebytes.
    I'll appreciate any advice,
    Thanks

    SAS or MBAM wich you use ondemand would be better realtime replacement for the AS area. You only need an AS if you frequently encounter it. I never do but i prefer to cover my bases just incase doodoo happens

    Thank you guys, I appreciate the help.
    I was thinking to purchase one of MBAM or SAS to replace my Spy Sweeper (my subscription expire soon) and use it on real-time mode. I still don't know witch one is lighter on resources and plays nice with NOD32 when use on real-time.
    Anyways I called today Eset Customer Service and told them about the problem and they said that I am better off without any other Antispyware, because Nod32 covers antispyware, malware very well and it will run smoother without conflicting with other security application. Also they told me that in case I am infected with anything they will help me to clean my computer.
    So my 2 questions now are:
    1. Should I kick out Spy Sweeper and stay with just NOD32 v4?
    2. If you think it's OK with an other antispyware real-time, witch one?

    Thanks,

    Prevention is better then a cure, SAS n NOD r a populair, compatible n smooth combo. SAS is as light as a feather and no NOD is not a great anti spyware n never will be, good anti malware sure

    From what I've read, MBAM realtime (paid version) isn't very good. I know SAS is very popular, but I'm not sure what to think of it. (I'm biased against the word 'SUPER', for a start :rolleyes: )

    I'm not sure about NOD32, I thought it was not good against non-virus malware, but Eset Smart Security would include antispyware protection o_O
    I just checked, according to av-comparatives NOD32 would be effective against non-virus malware, so I'm not sure where/when I did get that idea.

    Of course there is the possibility of conflicts between two real-time antimalware programs.

    For me, the version 5.5.7 of the Spy Sweeper works without problems, but I won't renew it.

    New version 6.1.0 (Build 107) from 6.1.0 (Build 100) of Spy Sweeper out today has the pre-check ASK Toolbar again.

    I guess it was too good to last.

    And making ASK the default search engine ? I don't know if that's new.

    Webroot :thumbd:

    I certainly won't renew.

    Main Reason I will renew Spy SweePer!- & ASK toolbar...

    SSP Web Guard has warned me MANY times about legitimate "looking" web sites, I was about to visit!-
    I also stopped clicking on most Google paid advertisments (usually right side of page, as sooo many were bad!).

    I still manage to find no-alert web pages, that try to load poop... on my computer (i.e. brothersoft...), and I report them!-
    sooo I surf & open ALL email in free SandBoxie (auto-delete box contents on closing...!)!
    ~~

    Re: ASK toolbar...!- I don't find software "trying" to install extras... (MANY do it!-$) on my computer any big deal, as long as I can opt-out!-
    I ALWAYS use Custom install..., and am very wary of all FREE offers... (i.e. AntiVir Premium/spam (Privacy Policy!)/...!)!!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am just now upgrading to SSP.107 on my desktop? :doubt: -
    Often their updates are buggy, but have never badly corrupted my compukers (15 years- knock on wood!) o_O
    A test of NOD32 v4 done by Matt of Remove-Malware.com (the video is on YouTube) suggests that the detection and cleaning of spyware and adware in Version 4 is much improved over Version 3. You are already using MBAM and SAS as on-demand scanners, so I would say that no, you don't need a dedicated antispyware program running in real-time alongside NOD32.
    Rather than adding a second signature-based product in real-time you might be better off adding a HIPS or BB. Adding another layer of a different type may give better overall protection, with less overlap and a reduced chance of conflict. Personally, I prefer BB to HIPS because it is quieter and less intrusive. ThreatFire, Mamutu, or Prevx Edge would all be good choices to complement NOD32.
    From my evaluation of rogue software or adware protection, NOD is really good comparing with SpySweeper. They don't focus on the this area anymore... Sometimes I have sent sample for webroot customer support. but nothing happend and further more, they request to pay for 99USD to removal malware or something. this is stupid ! If I send sample to other vendor, without any exception, they will update the defintion in less than 12 hours.. but how about Webroot ? give me a break
