I just downloaded the latest paid release of AVG AV, and the file name is avg_ipw_stf_en_8_125a1325.exe. If this file name follows the AVG "standard" naming structure, then the is either AVG V8.125 or AVG V8.1.25. Either way, the latest product available via the automatic update procedure is V8.093.

Does anyone know if this is indeed an updated AVG release, and if so, what it is/doeso_O

    Thanks in advance,

Thanks, lodore, for your quick reply/update!

Let me re-iterate that, as of this moment, this service pack is not being automatically distributed via the AVG "auto update" facility.

built 135 is actually the sp1 that we beta testers tested.
It is on their website now for those who want to buy the Pro and do not have it now.
It will come via your updater for the pro and free version in the next few days.
And also it fixes the active x compatibility issue with spyboy s&D and spywareblaster

    3) FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS
    ====================
    build 111
    - Remake of internal communication to eliminate undesired program status appearance (hibernation, sleep mode, cold restart, ...).
    - Display of the system tray icon representing running scan (that can be paused or stopped from the context menu).
    - Added option to ignore the status of a component: the system tray icon then reports OK status even if a component is in error status.
    - New tab added for the rootkit findings in the scan results overview.
    - System restore point is created before launching a program update.
    - Added new option verifying the ADMIN Server connection in the program's advanced settings.
    - Improved EML file processing including scanning of user mailboxes.
    - RAM requirements optimization.
    - Improved statistics of detected objects in Email Scanner and resident Shield.
    - New design of the system tray pop-up window, and more information provided.
    - To eliminate AVG collisions with OS, only minimum drivers are installed in safe mode; then it is possible to launch on-demand scanning from the command line only, and a new GUI dialog has been added to ease the scan configuration.
    - Added option of restoring a file from the Virus Vault to the original folder even if the folder has been removed.
    - Added option of deleting the Resident Shield and Email Scanner history.
    - Improved stability and design of GUI.
    - Improved GUI accessibility (using keyboard).
    - Fixed problem of GUI compatibility with some screereaders, e.g. JAWS.
    new in build 116
Added ability to start a scheduled scan by clicking on the item in the list of schedules, and selecting from the context menu.

im sure there will be an updated list of changes on the main page soon.

The new automatic update for SP1 has been released via the updater

Users will receive it the next time their AVG updates. The update process is required to run twice - upon the second update a computer restart will be necessary to complete the update process. If this doesn't happen please click "Check for updates Again"

After update the user's AVG should have AVG Version 8.0.130.

    Update Notes

    1) The update is approx 13-14MB so it could take some time to download on dial-up connections.
    2) The update must be done in 2 steps (run update twice), the second update will require a computer restart.
    3) Fixes and Improvements included in this update:

    - Added option of deleting the Resident Shield and Email Scanner history.

    Hello all,

Robinb9's previous post is 100% correct: you must run the update process twice & restart your system to correctly update AVG to V8.0.130. Just follow Robinb9's install instructions and your update will go fine.

Also, the product installation files have been updated to V8.0.130 as well for those who need/want to install the updated software via a "new" install.

Yep, I can see slight speed boosts, much improved stability with the Linkscanner component and slightly reduced RAM usage with this update. What I do not like is that I'm seeing constant CPU usage spikes in Vista from the AVG firewall process, which I didn't have before this update. This weekend I'll try a clean install with the latest version and see what happens.

And I didn't need to run the update twice - the updater automatically started downloading the second update after the first was downloaded and installed.

    Hi

I didn't know about the update being in 2 parts until it was too late
I've only been using AVG 8 for a few months. ( Paid Version! )
    Never used AVG before then!
So when I saw the little pop up the other day... Saying - Update Available
I thought... Oh! The last update must have given me a new feature.
I thought it was a bit strange that it said - Available ... When normally they just install without me knowing.
But I just presumed it would install itself when my next 4 hour update was due... Like they normally do!

Turned off the computer to take the dog to the vet.
And thought nothing more about it!

Came home.... Turned the computer back on.... And realised something wasn't right :doubt:

When I opened IE7 ... I got a message about the AVG 8 Toolbar not being able to connect to the Internet.

AVG 8 was still showing as - OK
But when I opened it... Half the AVG 8 modules were missing!

I guessed it was something to do with the update... And Clicked - Update Now

The update started to install ... Almost got to the end - But Then Stopped!
    AVG 8 Turned Grey.

    I Turned Grey Too! o_O

Then all of a sudden... My Firewall ( PC Tools Firewall Plus ) started asking me to allow AVG this and AVG that!
    I clicked - Allow ... Allow ... Allow ... Allow!
AVG 8 Turned Back To Colour
And I got an AVG pop up to tell me the update had been successful :)

AVG 8 didn't ask me to do a Restart
So just to be on the safe side.... I Restarted My Computer Anyway!
But I've found out since from here : http://www.grisoft.com/ww.faq.num-1066#faq_1066
I wasn't asked to do a Restart because I'm using Vista.

    Then Yesterday...

AVG 8 popped up with another - Update Available

Knowing what to do this time...
I opened AVG and clicked - Update Now

    AVG 8 updated to : 8.0.131

Can someone please tell me ...

Would it be ok to use Super Antispyware ( Free ) along side AVG 8 ( Paid )
I know the AVG 8 updates were supposed to fix the Active X compatibility issue with Spybot S&D and Spywareblaster.
But what about - Super Antispyware ?
Was there any known problems before the updates?
Am I likely to face any problems running the 2 programs on the same computer?

What do you think of Super Antispyware?
    Is it work getting?

    Thanks! :thumb:

Grisoft servers are updated with a new installer.

    avg_free_stf_all_8_101a1327.exe

I wonder if this is the sp1.

On Saturday, 5th July 2008, AVG Technologies released an update to AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0 to address the LinkScanner issue amongst other things.

The file name you want to use is:
    avg_free_stf_en_8_138a1332.exe (or later)

If you don’t want to wait for the update process to roll-out to your PC, or you’re doing a new installation, then the up-to-date version is now available for you to download at www.avgfree.com.au
