    Those will be great, but of course they run into the same problem 1Gb/s (or even 100Mb/sec) Ethernet has now - as soon as you hit your gateway device, typically being served by the cable/DSL modem, your bandwidth bottlenecks down to whatever bandwidth is provided by your ISP - typically less than 20Mb/sec.

    So these 1Gb+ speeds are great for local networking, but until ISPs catch up, it is mostly just fancy talk.
