The download protection marked them as safe?
They have digital signatures from wellknown companies? (fake digital signatures)
Proceed to execution them can it detect them?

Sorry I didn't tried the execution coz I had downloaded & saved on the real system.

But the files were not digitally signed as you mentioned, so may be a bug or what I dont know. I dont have those files as I had deleted them. But I will again test Kingsoft & post here if it rated the malware file as safe which I am sure it will do.

    Thanxx

I again tested it with malware from MDL. And the download protection rated 2 malware as safe. Cross checked with VT with high detection. The malware were not digitally signed. So something wrong with the rating I guess.

I will have a look in Kingsoft forum link you have posted.

    Thanxx

Thanks so much for pointing out our problem, and sorry for reporting that malware as safe.

The problem of malware reported as safe, related to several reasons.
    1. We're the newer on English security market and need time to improve our cloud database.
    2. Our strategy is not strict enough, as our global moderator - Sophie, figured out before.

For #1, we're planning to join VT to improve our cloud database. (In progresss)
#2, this is because Chinese users' requirements are different with English users' requirements in some fields. We've noticed this problem and doing our best to improve our detection rate, and also avoid false positives, especially malware reported as safe.

BTW, the download link for the tested samples which placed on our forum is not working, could you please place a new one for us, narenbisht? Thx.

Download link posted in Kingsoft forum.

Previously I pasted the wrong link, sorry.

You can just go to any malware site & try to download & save 15-20 malware, I am sure you will come accross 2-5 malware marked as safe. I find the safe rating frequency high considering its an antimalware security product.

    Thanxx

Thanks, we'll come accross what missed on our side, improve the detection and avoid reporting malware as safe. This may not be done in a short time, but surely we'll improve this point asap.

I refer to this suggestion "Now in trust list we can add only files will be better if we can add also folders in it" > Suggestion - Trust List / Exclusions > http://www.kingsoftsecurity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=298

During the install of this program the other day I initially got a popup for which I answered with 'Remove Later'.

    ScreenShot_KPC_install_18.jpg

Later on during the initial scanning I got a slew of detections for the contents of that folder. Some of the detections, for example.

    ScreenShot_KPC_install_61.jpg

Surely, it would have been more useful to have the ability to exclude the entire folder, in this particular case, for example.

BTW, these files are from a legacyware program which I still use, and therefore rarely seen in the wild, anymore. So, I can understand why Kingsoft may consider these files to be unsafe. ;)

Hmm, that's right. We'll start assessing the group exclusion. Thanks for your suggestions and screenshots.:)

I couldn't even if I wanted to, since I couldn't find a 'Check for updates' in the product GUI, or in the tray icon. ;)

    @ boombastik

LOL ...Thanks, just goes to show how one can miss seeing something, that is reasonably obvious. :D

Does it update over the top, or will I need to do a fresh install?

Over the top i have test it. It will terminate the services and it will install the new one, with your settings from the previous version.

Add it to the exclusions list and report it as a false positive.

Hello guys, Kingsoft PC Doctor updated to 3.1.1, an interesting feature - My Startup, is added. When someone feels KPD slows down their startup, then it can definitely supports them. If you feels something need to be improved, please feel free to tell us. Also we're welcome you to report the startup items you think they are too slow, and we may help you optimizing them.

    Here is the changelog:

For some reason Windows7 virtualises PC Doctor, so it won't autostart (is the executable unsigned)?

Despite the recommendation to fresh install...I chose over the top.

    Seems to be running OK.
