Same here, no update task. Microsoft should really get this figured out. I like the design and the detection of this thing but the updating module leaves something to be desired.

This new Build is for 32 bit version, I presume ?
My 64 bit version is 1.0.2140.0 and does not upgrade.

He didn't correctly state this sentence, I think he means:

If not, +1 what you asked.

Not sure I understand. As far as I can tell, 1.0.1500.0 is legit, not leaked. Mine upgraded directly from MS.

It's a shame, I liked this AV but, the broken updates keep me from leaving this on. Why can't it update like Avast or Avira etc etc. The older version worked fine on Vista and with XP I had to setup a job schedule to get the updates. Now with this new version, both OS's don't update. And as a bonus, on my Vista machine I received a warning from MSE for my geswall service. MS was going to check the service and asked me to submit. The next re-boot GeSWall's systray icon is not showing and MSE trashed one of the services! I'm back to Avast, a AV with very little problems and great protection.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Avast's beta doesn't update at all. So far, I've had no problems with updates with MSE, they just occur less often than before (once a day). Which although I do not agree with, I'm sure is done to prevent the windows update servers being smashed when the thing goes live.

Yes, I'm using 4.8 not the beta. I want to like MSE but I have had issues with it's updates. The GeSWall thing was the topper for me. I think MSE will become a very good AV/AM once they fix the update issue. I have tried all different solutions but none seem to work. My wife turns on the pc randomly and for very short times and it had 2 week old updates on it. I know Avira or Avast will update as soon as the internet connection is established. This is a big issue that MS should correct. I'm sure they are limiting the updates but this is ridiculous. I think this will get cleared as soon as they figure out how to increment the updates and send smaller signatures.

    Until then it's .................

Toby75, you'e welcome! Since MSE is still a BETA (Beware Experimental Test Application) ;) users need all the help they can get. Take care.

As you can see, he was talking about 1.0.2140, which is a leaked version and therefore won't update to 1.0.1500.

Yes, thank you for the link but I wish it would update on it's own. For a beta, it is very polished I know.

Ice, you're welcome! Keep in mind that a Beta version might fix one bug, while creating another bug somewhere else. That's just the way it is with a Beta.

At the very least, you can update manually via that link and still enjoy the product. Take care.

I can now confirm that the following machines are updating correctly with no added customization:

    • Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
    • Windows Vista Home Basic SP2
    • Windows XP Home SP3

As you can see, I gave it a few days lee-weigh as it only updates daily.

Maybe I should try again and wait a few days to see if the updates work. Just curious, do you leave your win xp(sp3) machine on 24/7? If not, when do you have your Window updates scheduled to run?

    thanks

No the XP machine is usually only on for a couple of hours at a time, I believe the scheduled updates are set to around 5-9pm.

When I tried MSE, I had no issues with it updating on my XP computer.

I've since re-installed Avira, and will continue to use Avira until MSE comes out of BETA. Then I'll see how things go after that.

Love the new icon, it's pretty. Scans fast and no problems at all on vista! =D
    Thanks for the update.
