Very strange indeed. My system is WinXP Home with sp2 installed. I have also Kaspersky 5.0.156 installed, but during my test with eScan, the resident shield of Kaspersky was off. I don't have any unzipped infected files, my collection has only zipped infections. Before eScan was still able to rename or delete my zipped infected files but not anymore.

At first, when I started my eScan, it updated the proggie straight from version 4.4.7 to 4.5.1. Secondly, when I started my test, it showed this kind of notice. (see the picture)

After the first infected file was found, it clearly reported that it didn't rename or delete any files.

Very interesting results indeed. I will say that my version is 4.4.7 from the #7 download link at the website.

    http://www.mwti.net/download/tools/mwav.exe

    Virus Signature Date 2004/09/08

I tried it again, it will delete/rename all entries it finds.

Obviously my eScan downloaded on the 5:th October, was then 4.5.1, because it couldn't upgrade to version 4.5.4, it could only update to current date. The last version is absolutely 4.5.4, I downloaded and runned that just now.

PS. Use the first link to get the last version of eScan.

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

Just started them all, eScan Free v. 4.4.7, 4.5.1 and 4.5.4, all of these were able to update to the latest definitions today, but none of those older versions were able to upgrade to v. 4.5.4.

I have to say that I have a broadband connection, maybe that's why so quick updates.

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

I just can't believe better way to update than just open the "mwav.exe", and after a few seconds your eScan is up to date!

Just click kavupd.exe in the folder where escan is located, a dos window will open and all the new virus defination from kesparsky.com will be downloaded.
