new and a novice - need help with about:blank

Hi there,

I've recently been affected with xxxserver dialup but I think I've got rid of it finally, but that was the limit of my technical expertise! The problem is my browser's homepage is constantly set to about:blank no matter how many times I change it back to my original news.bbc.co.uk one.

At the moment the about:blank page shows some bogus search page. I've noticed that your other members are posting there hijak this logs so I'll do the same....problem is I really don't have a clue as to what it all means!

Sorry - I should have mentioned that I've already run spybot search and destroy and adaware AND spyware blaster!

Welcome to Wilders.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [winlogon] c:\windows\winlogon.exe

Download CWShredder and run. Be sure ALL other windows are closed use the Fix button and follow the instructions you will receive.

There also may be hidden files. See HERE for how to show hidden files.

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:

c:\windows\winlogon.exe <-- ONLY delete the one in the windows folder, NOT in the system or system32 folders!!!

Reboot and then post a fresh HijackThis log.

I did as you suggested but after rebooting in safe mode I couldn't find winlogon.exe in the windows folder. Nevertheless it seems that the problem has been fixed, but here is the lastest log:
