    When I installed the security suite I performed a complete AV scan and it detected the Nero trial installer as containing a variant of a spyware program. Is this not just optional software?

    If it is Win32/AdInstaller its complaining about:

    it's because you have "potentially unsafe application" ticked and Nero installer since quite a while has a toolbar addon inside it. the detection is not a false positive but can be disregarded and you can de-select it within the installation of Nero.

    Note to administrators of this board: There really should be a sticky about Nero. People seem to ask about this quite alot.

    edit: added reference links
    edit2: fixed my "quote"

    Re: Nero contains a trojan? How get by?! CURE! HUH?!

    What's going on with NOD32?!-

    I downloaded the Nero 6.6 ultra #1... update- "Nero-6.6.1.15a.exe ".
    AMON didn't catch the Win32/AdInstaller spyware (ALL options set)!

    Daily scheduled NOD32 on-demand scan didn't catch it in the .exe file(Advanced heurisetics, run time packers, Potentially unsafe, ... set)

    I run my scheduled weekly NOD32 In-depth scan (every scan option... set!), and it FINALLY alerts me with a "Leave only"?!

    I got scared... & didn't install it (reports say- that you can just not check the Nero toolbar, and avoid it!). I'll err on the side of caution, and not install it- Nero is working good- Probably just some "rushed" Windows Vista update!

    I submitted a complaint on this..., to Eset support!

    I HIGHLY recommend that you schedule a weekly In-depth scan (I feel that Saturday evening is best!?)
    ~~~~~~~~
    OFF TOPIC!- ALL my recent anti-spyware pgm updates, have had BAD problems (had to reinstall my system!)!
    What's wrong? I don't understand. NOD32 detected it in a sfx archive and offered you the option to leave as it was found in an archive. If you set NOD32 to delete whole archives automatically it will surely do so.
