    Are you sure you want to do that? TOR is slow, and by that I mean very slow. Unless you are willing to accept massive lag in channels of course :)

    i think running tor on irc is ok, it's not slow there, but a lot of channels don't let you use it because people abuse it, at least the very few times i've done that the IP has been banned.

    Good point, I forgot that one.

    Many banned losers try to use Tor as one way circumvent their bans. As such, many exit nodes could be in fact blocked in some places.

    i just want to point out when i used tor on irc i wasn't being a 'banned loser', just being paranoid :D lol

    anyway, i looked up the settings and i think this is it -
    File -> Options -> Connect -> Firewall

    Older versions: Mark the "Use SOCKS Firewall" box. Newer versions (mIRC 6.0 and up): Select "Both" from the "Firewall support" pulldown.

    Protocol: SOCKS5
    Hostname: 127.0.0.1
    Port: 9050

    Here goes an alternative:

    You can access IRC through web interface with your web browser in Mibbit, if your web browser is using tor then that is the IP that IRC will show and you will be anonymized.

    Just be careful to reject all DCC requests as direct connections reveal your real IP.
