i just cant get the boot time page file defrag to work with kis7 without disabling a few things every time to make it run.. annoying.

i need something other than perfect disk and diskeeper.. that WILL DO a full boot time defrag that will not interfere with kis7.. ive read of a lot of issues with o&o and kis.. is there anything else out there that will do a FULL boot time defrag including the paging file and the mft that i can run with kis.. i dont want it to run real time though. only on demand. thanks a million for any help

Was it necessary to post this thread instead of posting in your other active topic?

i wanted specific info on defrag programs and nothing else. thats the reason i started this thread so only they would be discussed. i see why pd is not working right so im looking to find something that is known to work well with kis7..

nice how effective is this when compared to perfect disk or others?? does it do as good of a job? awesome link one i did not know of. thanks

do you know why the paging file will not defrag without turning off the "let system monitor page file" tab? i gave it admin and full access... doesnt make sense?

UltimateDefrag does have a boot defrag but I dont think it works.

    Maybe you could use PageDefrag?

JKDefrag(freeware) with GUI has some boot defrag options and uses the PageDefrag from SysInternals as a plug-in...not sure if PAgeDefrag plug-in will work with Vista yet though...

here's the link for the base program:
    http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/

and here is the GUI that i use(there are others):

    http://www.emro.nl/freeware/

it has many different options,command-line, pagedefrag, system file defrag on boot, even use it as your screensaver..... might be what you're looking for, and its free

Perfect Disk, at boot time, runs before Kaspersky starts.
If u see a conflict, u should report this in the Kaspersky forums.

In Kaspersky, put the following in theTrusted Zone:

    PDEngine.exe
    PDAgent.exe
    PerfectDisk.exe

    Select
Do not scan opened files, do not restrict application activity, and do not prevent registry access.

Not sure why this would matter at boot time, but it wouldn't hurt.

^^^ does this also help with perfect disk running VERY slow with kis.. i have another machine that did not have the boot time issue like this one did but on that machine perfect disk runs very slow with kis7.. thanks for the info..for whatever reason it seems to have fixed the boot time defrag issue i just like you cant figure out why this would have effected perfect disk the way it did since i thought it loads before kis7 does.. but it fixed it.

i actually find except for perfect disk and chkdsk kis7 is almost as fast as nod and avira with everything. i see no slowdown at all in web browsing or and work on the system. just defrag and chkdsk..
