LOL don't I know that, well it
can't be just around the corner, as I'msure
you couldn't be wrong about that,

However, if v5 beta is (let's say) 3 months away, the beta of the new GUI can't be to far away.

I'm sure you will surprise all though, when it just pops up on the site ;)

I'm tired of hearing those kind of answers about software. They want your business but when you put a straight question to them they side step it to avoid making a commitment. People who buy software DO make a commitment with their money and follow a product, can one not expect the same in return?

For being a Russian company it doesn't always work that way

Correct so one must make the choice to stay or leave...

VBA operates similarly but a little less on the secretive side, yes I still use a virus scanner even in Linux. :)

Yep, a choice some feel the need to
    take.

But we should be seeing the new GUI lately, should be no
more separate parts, and then we can look forward to
the http scanner, v5 engine, new proper quarentine, self protection and
    much more.

I hope v5 beta arrives sooner than the 3 months
or so, but I also hope drweb don't stick to tradition and keep
    delaying.

    Customers want what's best for
their own product, and lack of updates are not the way to
    go.

Yes, drweb are a small company and do work hard to protect, but the excuses must end, after such a long time.

I fear that drweb will push out this 'other' stepping stone with the new GUI, and unless it arrives EXTREMELY soon, I fear it will push the v5 bet further
    back even more some.

Wasn't version 4.44 a stepping stone to version 5; sort of a preview of features to come? I thought it was. And that version was released a while ago now too.

The crux of the matter is: does Dr.Web protect well or not. This has nothing to do with a version number.

The answer is that the doctor takes care of business very well, so yours truly does not has to make a choice. ;)

yep, thats the feeling i got.

thats why i said adding this 'other' stepping stone.

i was told about 7/8 months ago that v5 beta was "very soon", thats why i dont understand all the delay.

it is strange, i understand why they dont want to give dates but if other companys can, i dont see the problem.

they have deadlines and targets and recent experiences in creating products so they SHOULD know roughly when a product would be ready.

    we'll see how it goes.....

    still, its exciting :D

That's not the only thing to consider; Dr web's lack of a quarantine could be a factor if the user has an FP on a system file that cannot be restored. That happened to me a couple of times. Protection, while important, is not the only factor that should be considered.

That seems to be the way they operate. I guess in a way it appeases the angry too.

i totally agree with the quarantine, its the only thing i miss.

i would take the quarantine over all the 'new features' coming to V5 if i had a choice of just one.

    its all a waiting game...

Yes, I have already mentioned that in one of my posts. Lacking a feature like this is backward.

I agree. But they have been very innovative in other areas so, in that regard, they deserve a little slack. Now, if version 5 is not absolute gold then we all might have to think of moving on.
