Ok, here are some new ones they can add if they wish, correct me if I make a wrong statement.

They say, Dr.Web doesn't have a proper quarantine for viruses, and 99 percent of other anti-virus progams have them.

That's true, we are working on that, maybe you'll see it maybe not.

They say, that if you put the Dr.Web icon in the taskbar to "show always" it still manages to disappear.

Yes, true but we feel you shouldn't have a choice, plus we made the program not you.

They say, version 5 will be a technology breakthrough.

Yes, we have been working on it for the past...years, I think.

you will see the quarantine you want,

And yes, they set the tray icon as hide when inactive, it was something I did try and get changed myself, however, seeing as I no longer use the icon at all, I don't really give a toss :)

and yes, v5 beta will soon be among us all, to be honest, it does include alot of new things, not just adding a new GUI or 1 new feature and labelling it as a new version.

Drweb v5 is truly a new version, (or will be ;) )

Who can really tell, the staff don't really know I think.

Its in alpha testing and beta is next.

I would say 1-2 months, but its just a guesstimate.

To be fair, you've said all this before and the time has come and gone. First you thought it was going to be in beta in 12/07, then it was January or Febuary of 08. My point is not to give you a hard time, but to simply say that no one knows and giving a timeline like you have is just false hope for something that may be years off.

    years off?

    No

It will be ready, when its ready.

Even for beta, it must be very stable', you know what drweb are like.

Yes, I do what what dr Web is like. How old is the 4.x branch? 9 years or so. How long have we been told that version 5 is on the way? A long time. As I said, we've heard all this before. So, I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, version 5 doesn't exist.

I just hope they stick to their word as to my unused license key of 2006.......
FYI I asked if I could wait indeffinately for V5 and they said "Sure!" We will see 2 years later.
I rarely use Winders at all any more though, so who knows if I will ever use it. :p

    to be fair, stop complaining.

4.44 was only released in late 07.

Can you really not wait 1-2 months or so for the beta of a totally
new version, we all want it, but it will arrive when its ready.

Nothing we can do about that

im guessing the beta will be extremely stable (more than some released products today) , and the release even more so.

at least, thats how drweb usually do business.

pure speculation, but cant wait till it arrives. ;)

I'm not complaining. I'm just saying that it is pointless to give dates, eg. 1-2 month, if hte product won't be released by then, as has been the case whenever you've given a time frame. You ist create false hope when you do that. 4.44 works fine for me. And yes, it was released not too long ago. However, version 5 was rumored before that too.

What makes you so sure that this time you're right?

    i aint sure,

there are no dates, it could arrive tomorrow and nobody would complain :)

my original guess was dec 07 - jan 08, looks like its going to be a few months from that, but as its in alpha testing, i really wouldnt put it past a few months at the latest, but who knows.

people ask when and i dont know, but neither do drweb.

they are guesses is all, i dont work for drweb so i dont speak for them. ;)

it literally is, when its ready it will be released as beta.

That's what I mean. Giving out possible release dates is pointless. Althought I hate this answe, "When it's ready" is appropriate. I just don't like it when a release date is given anf then it is not adhered to.

The most recent builds seem to have ironed out most of the major bugs/quirks.

eset had some early issue with the program but I use it & the current release is fine. Now lets have no more making fun of programs used by others, childish behavior is not conducive to this thread...

I didn't drop VBA32 for DrWeb or any other AV when I use Windows, which is on occasion.
Just curios to see if they(DrWeb) will stand by their word or will it end up being a Myth.

As per the Linux Q, We use Ubuntu and Fedora LTSP at work and I am using Parsix/OpenSuse right now.</ot>
