    Hey Everybody!

I'm finishing up my newest program - ChatScan - and wanted some thoughts from the lovely members here at Wilders.

    What it does:
    • Scans PC's on your network for running chat programs
      • Can scan ALL computers or just Selected ones for a narrow search. Adjustable filter to list only certain segments of your network.
    • After the scan, it displays information about the found processes:
      • Computer Name it was found on
      • User name that is running the program
      • Name of the program found
      • Installation location of the program that is found
    • Then, you have the option of killing the processes remotely
      • Either 1 at a time
      • Or, have it kill them anytime one is found
It is designed for network admins that want to see what their users are doing. It allows you to sit on any workstation on the network and do a full scan of all computers connected, LAN or WAN.

    What it looks for:
    • Yahoo! Instant messenger
    • Yahoo! System Tray Manager
    • AOL Instant Messenger
    • ICQ Messenger
    • Jabber Instant Messenger
    • MSN Messenger
I have not included a screenshot yet, because the program is still under construction.

I just wanted to get some opinions about whether you think this is something usefull or not.

    Thanks,
    Andy

It sounds like a good idea to me ;) It could be helpfully to both Network admins and also on Home Networks for parents.

    Good Luck,

    Steve

Sounds good to me. I appreciate the plug :D

Once I finish this one and get it off and running, I'm going to go back and finish working on ChatStop and get it out there too.

I'm willing to let some people test it if they are interested, when it's complete that is ;)
