I just thought that Spy Sweeper would be sufficient because it detects more spyware than Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D combined together, but I guess precedures are procedures...I'll do another scan with Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D, and then repost a new hijack log.

    Hi DoubleVision19,

Check the item listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {58A83E4F-477A-4A3F-BF9B-B65BC2BD5598} - (no file)

    Download and run: http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe
Use the Fix button and follow the instructions you will receive.

    Then reboot.
    That should do it.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Re: My hijack log Pt. 2

Mahalos for your help. I did what you mentioned above, but I'm still getting the same problems. When I reboot my PC after I reinstalled SWB and SWG, the following "startup programs" are missing...SWG, Norton System Doctor, and BTTray doesn't load up. What am I doing wrong?

Hmmm. They are all supposed to start from your Startup Folders.

Download and install StartupMonitor from http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml

One nice feature this program has, is you can move startups from one location to another.
Move the one that have problems from the Startup folders to the Runkey.

Let me know if it doesn't work as advertised and I will try to make you a regfile.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Mahalos for replying,

I tried the program that you posted, but didn't do anything :doubt: I also tried another program that I downloaded off the net which is called Starup Inspector for Windows but that also didn't work. I also ran both Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D from safe mode. Ad-Aware found a file it didn't catch during normal mode, but doing that also, didn't help out. I about to the point of running another System Restore knowing that I can't resolve my problem

    Hi DoubleVision19,

    I need some more information:
    Click Start > run > copy paste regedit /e c:\strtnm.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" >OK

Then find the file c:\strtnm.txt and post what is in it.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Nothing wrong with the command. Did you copy & paste the part in bold? (Nothing more, nothing less)

And did you look for c:\strtnm.txt, because that is the file it makes.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Okay, I managed to manually go to that registry, and a bunch of files were in that folder, but when I tried to search for c:\strtnm.txt using "find" from the Edit menu, it took me to another part of the registry. As for posting what's supposed to be in it, how can I do that o_O It won't allow me to copy.

Yes, I did copy what was typed in bold, but nothing happened. It didn't open the registry files at all. :'(

c:\strtnm.txt is a file, not something in the registry.

What do you mean it won't let you copy?
I'll attach the command in a text file to this post.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Something is very much not right on your computer. o_O

Click Start > Run > sfc /scannow (there is a space between afc and /) > OK

Windows will check your system files for any corrupt, missing or outdated ones and prompt you for the CD if it needs to replace one.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    OK.

    Type Start > Run > regedit >OK
    The regsistry editor will open.
    Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

In the Right hand pane there should be an entry :
    "Startup"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\[username]\\and more

I need to know the last part so anything from and including [username]

    Regards,

    Pieter

Good. Now surf to that folder and let me know the names of the files that are in there.

Sorry for all the trouble I'm causing you right now :'(

    I just did the following...

    start > Run > copy & pasted C:\Documents and Settings\Alexander Tacderan\Start Menu\Programs\Startup > OK

Only one program is listed there and that is the shortcut for "SpywareGuard"

Hey, you are not causing me any problems.

    Do the same for C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Then tell what files (or shortcuts) are in that folder.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Just got home from work now. Mahalos for waiting...these are the programs that are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup :

    Shortcut for "Adobe Gamma Loader.exe"
    Shortcut for "BTTray"
    Shortcut for "Giga Pocket Initialize"
Shortcut for "Giga Pocket Remocon Driver"
    Shortcut for "Logitech Setpoint"
    Shortcut for "Norton System Doctor"
Shortcut for "VAIO Action Setup (Server)"

FYI: My PC is getting more unstable (MSN contacts sending me messeges to me even though MSN Messenger is not activated. Programs suddenly freeze and then resets my taskbar, etc.) everytime I reboot my PC. If we don't get this resolved soon, I'll be forced to do a "System Restore" again :'(

Quite honestly, I have no idea what is going on, so if A System Restore is a viable option, I would not wait too long.

I just wanna say "Mahalos for your help" I know that you tried your best to help me out with my situation. I'm gonna do a "System Restore" right now. I guess my PC doesn't like the program at all. I guess, I will come here from time to time to check out if there will be a update to the program. Alohas for now.
