    I have the same problem, and when I first saw it I simply deleted 'C:\WINDOWS\start.chm' however, it came back without recreating the start.chm file, at least I think it did, I can't find start.chm after I deleted it.

    Just a follow-up, I'm not sure if this is a coincidince, but at the same time it hijacked my homepage I started to see pop-ups with my pop-up block (Google toolbar) turned on, this makes me suspect that it is a program on my system, does anyone know about this?

    Hi eagle8635,

    Check the following items in HijackThis.
    Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = mk:mad:MSITStore:C:\WINDOWS\start.chm::/start.html
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}_ - (no file)
    R3 - URLSearchHook: TvmBho Class - {707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - C:\Program Files\TV Media\TvmBho.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - C:\Program Files\TV Media\TvmBho.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

    O4 - Global Startup: GStartup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT\GMT.exe

    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/2492b055b25de8...ip/RdxIE601.cab

    O16 - DPF: {FF0C042C-98E9-4C36-B2EC-E21FDFDCEF75} (InstallCtl Class) - http://download.redswoosh.net/Insta...rsinstaller.cab

    Then download and run CWShredder
    Use the Fix button and follow the instructions provided by the program.

    Then reboot and delete:
    C:\Program Files\TV Media <= entire folder

    To avoid start.chm to work again:
    A possible workaround would be to remove the file association in Windows that allows CHM files to be executable. Follow these steps:

    Open Windows Explorer
    Click on Tools
    Click on Folder Options
    Click on File Types tab
    Scroll to the CHM type
    Either delete or modify it so it isn't executable

    The problem with this is that you will be disabling all CHM files so Windows Help will be effectively disabled.

    Regards,

    Pieter
