I recently downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials; it indicates its size on my computer to be 21MB. I have come across KB2310138 (Definition 1.151.1510.0) it indicates a size of 76.9MB and says once installed it cannot be removed.

Is this normal and should I download and install it? I am just not that convinced that MSE is the protection I should have.

As always all replies willy be very much appreciated and I would thank you in advance.

    Hello,

MSE updates its signatures/definitions via Windows Update (hence the "KB2310138 (Definition 1.151.1510.0)" showing up in your Windows Updates). In order to keep MSE's signatures/definitions up-to-date and your system as secure as possible, it is very highly advised for you to install these as they are released.
