    Good thread.

For an interesting insight into what M$ really does keep on your comp read the text article from my post here https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=286050#post286050

Robin Kier as most of you probably know is a legend (author of K9)
    http://keir.net/index.html

Home page of Jeremy Bryan Smith here http://www.utdallas.edu/~jeremy.bryan.smith/ Good reading

I found the User Assist files on my "out of the box" XP install and have disabled them.

I believe SS&D will remove these files when sweeping

I also use CCleaner and Eraser.
I too would like to have some "recipes" for Eraser

Without doubt IMHO some of the best analyses of M$ problems is at Radsoft
    http://www.radsoft.net/news/
    and
    http://www.radsoft.net/resources/software/reviews/

May not be to everybody's taste but rollicking good reading.
Their tools rock. (idon't work for them, just love the apps and attitude)

Admins can simply delete index.dat files at any time
Most decent cleaner apps will delete same on reboot prior to recreation per session.
