That looks a lot like a VirusBuster AV Engine detection.

    @ djohn

Nice to see someone actually testing it with a few nasties :thumb:

    *

Well AFAIK it's the 1st openly supported homosexual security software http://mongoosa.com/en/pride.html Who thought they would ever see that, not me anyway :D Whatever floats your boat !

So it "appears" to have at least 2 other vendors code included in it, PrivateFirewall & VirusBuster. I wonder if anybody elses code will turn up, or if the rest is theirs ?

    Mongoosa = $12.90 http://www.mongoosa.com/en

    VirusBuster Personal $22.89 https://secure.avangate.com/order/product.php?PRODS=556075&QTY=1&DCURRENCY=USD&CURRENCY=USD

If my maths are correct, that's a $9.99 saving on the $ face price of the AV alone :) I'm guessing Mongoosa's MO is to offer the package at that $ for now as an introductory price, in order to attempt to gain some attention & hopefully a % of market share ? Nothing wrong with that approach of course, especially in a Very crowded market place. I can't see them being able to keep the low $ indefinately though, so at some stage it would have go up !

I'm not sure how VirusBuster stacks up in AV tests, is it up there with the best or ?

Knowledgebase is down ? https://mongoosa.com/spbas/kb/index.php?task=down_for_maintenance so i couldn't find out more info about the program.

I wonder if it'll take off, or just slowly fade away etc as many others have ? It's a tough time to be launching new products anyway :( As i said earlier, if it's ALL legit then :thumb: for them.

I'll be brief as this program doesn't deserve much comment.

I downloaded 8 new malware exe's, consisting of 6 trojans of diverse types, 1 worm (Bshade) and one of my favorites, a Lock-em-All.

Mongoosa detected 3 trojans on execution. It let the other 3 through (MB found 29 items). The worm was blissfully ignored by the furry sentinel (perhaps it was busy eating a snake or chicken as worms don't seem to be on the menu) and as there is no HIPS or Sandbox the Lock-em-All lived up to its name and Locked me out.

Mongoosa is not Canada's finest hour.

IMO I wish new comers would not depend on another engine and design there own from scratch and then improve on it from there.

Good testing thats hardcore testing that will make or break it.You broke it.

Yeah I agree. It's not ready for prime time yet. I ran it through 10 links each from, malc0de, clean-rx.de/malware and MDL. It got the majority (21) during execution. The rest were ad-ware, one odd control panel malware, 2 trojans and one rootkit. My laptop froze during the rootkit starting and executing. I wasn't able to determine what caused it.

that's one of the ugliest UIs i've ever seen. all it needs is a pair of cherry bomb mufflers hanging out the back and you could confuse it for a riced out honda. yuck.

Is it a cut down version of private firewall or does it have the process detection that's found in full private firewall?

I've never had the occasion to use PF so I really can't say. As to a Process detection if one exists I didn't see it in operation and neither did the malware infecting my computer.

Good or bad product could come from anywhere, even USA or Canada.

Who would have been able to know that one of the best antiviruses on the market would be created by an editor founded in 1992 in Slovakia?

Eset is the editor of NOD32.

Research and development centers in Bratislava (Slovakia), San Diego (US), Montreal (Canada), Krakow (Poland), Moscow (Russia), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Prague (Czech Republic) and Singapore.

    http://www.eset.com/us/about/profile/overview/

When i first tried NOD32 version 2.7, the GUI was bad but it was a very good AV. I never stop use it until the new version 5.

    Good luck to Mongoosa.
