How is that? Never tried it.

I ditched Avast last night due to some issues and due to the way its currently setup. Its a nice AV for sure, lots of features, but there layout and setup leaves a lot to be desired imho.

    Trying out Bitdefender again.

what "other things" do you want in a mobile av? also, what features are a must have as part of the mobile av?

  3. Yeah good, it's pretty light and scans everything. I'm happy with it.

Does any av support Opera Mini? I would think that the way Opera Mini works that Opera servers would have some sort of built in scanners but I don't know if they do or not.

They don't have AV though its just Anti Theft. At least for Android however.

Can't think of any, sorry. The servers only compress data, but Opera may include some sort of website blacklisting.

Avast does not include watching my Opera Mobile (not mini), only the built-in browser.
But Opera seems to go to http://sitecheck.opera-mini.net/
when I go surfing the web. At least that's what I see in the router log.

    I did. Not impressed.

Stock Android browser ftw, followed up by Firefox. Both blow Chrome out of the water. Not sure why Google has not polished up the Chrome Android browser more than they have. Hopefully this new beta is the start of something good.

Hahahaha i feel it renders some websites faster than the stable version and the reason i like Chrome is how easy i can change between tabs and close them.
Just gimmicks but works for me. Hahahahaha
I tried FF on my previous phone and didn't like it at all, Opera was okay. Dolphin was quite good.

    I keep switching between
Kaspersky (then remove it in a few days as it becomes too heavy for my phone)
DrWeb (then remove it in a few days as I find theres a slight lag after a few days but still noticeable)
Bitdefender (then remove it in a few days as it as Bitdefenders processes start multiplying, had over one hundred instances at one time)
Ikarus (a good choice and I like this one only scans very slow)
    Right now trying Avast again.
I really wish there were other choices for Android besides Anti Virus's,
Where is AppGuard for Android or
Sandboxie for your smart phone or
    DefenseWall for Droid or............

Avast! seems to be a very good candidate on the freeware side but i'm fine with Kaspersky right now. Well worth my $5. :D

I don't think there are any for Windows Phone 8. When I had my Droid I didn't use any either. Never felt the need, at least at the time.

I don't either I've used many different android AVs just to try them out.

But right now I'm not using any, and feel quite safe despite using over 10 different 3rd party app stores.

I've decided to install avast onto my smart phone and so far my favourite feature is being able to block numbers though I'm yet to find out how effective it can be.

The main reason i install AV's is not for their virus protection, it's for their theft features. I rarely install apps on my device. (Only "needed" ones, such as WhatsApp, a couple games/apps i purchased and that's all)

    Same here.

Do you know of any way to actually get Kaspersky support to reply to you? I purchased the app (but quickly refunded) a few weeks back as it would not "Activate" on my device. Would like to try it out for sure.

Wow all you paid is $5? How can I get that deal? :argh:

I'm not sure if it's still on sale for $4.99 but i purchased it directly from the Play Store a couple months ago (Around Sept 2012) and it was for only $4.99.

If you check the Kaspersky Website it says that it costs $9.99 but i'm not sure about the Play Store since it does not shows the price anymore, it says "Purchased" and "Install". :D
For me $4.99 is well worth it for a reputable piece of software. So sad to hear that their support is not up to par. :D
I still haven't needed customer support so i'm fine. :ninja:

Yeah its more like $14.95 now lol. Wish I had known when it was on sale. I guess its a yearly subscription?

I hate you Noob since yours works lol. Yes support does not even reply. So you have no idea on how to escalate?

    Hahahaha try another software?
I don't have any problems with mine, i used to run it on CyanogenMOD ICS on my SII, then stock Gingerbread on my Beam and now on stock Jellybean 4.1.2 on my SIII, no problems so far.

When i purchased it back in Sept 2012 it was NOT in discount, what i meant is that the regular price was $4.95 back then, i looked at all the options that i had and for $4.95 Kaspersky was the best option.
BTW, i just checked the Play Store through my desktop and it still shows that it costs only $4.95!

Send me a link? You must be outside of the US. I still see $14.95 USD.

    Cheers.
