I've been Hijacked. I've run Spybot S&D and I also have McAffee antispyware running. I'm running XP and the problem is affecting my user account as well as my wife's. I haven't seen it on two other accounts yet. Sometimes the homepage has been changed upon startup and other times IE will be fine when initially opened but after some time the rude site opens in a popup window and then the home settings have been changed. Just this morning I am getting "RUNDLL" errors upon startup. Recent error references the access[1].exe file with a comment "specified module could not be found." I have also on two different occasions received an unsolicited message box. The first message referenced a chance to win $ (something like $1,500,000 ??) and the second suggested hitting OK to be directed to a rude site.

Would greatly appreciate a review of the log file and any other suggestions

Hi Many_Bridges,

Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
These easily get lost in a Temp folder.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Download and run: http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe
Use the Fix button and follow the instructions you will receive.

Then download this attachment to this post and save it as msit.reg
Doubleclick the file you saved and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.

Then reboot.

Just a fair warning. It could be back. Please let us know if and when it does. We are trying lots of things to find a definite answer.

To reduce the chances of that happening empty your Temporay Internet files in IE under Tools > Internet options > Delete Files and put a chckmark to include offline content.

I have run the start.chm fix by shadowwar (Thank you Shadowwar!!). Here's a copy of the log file.
