Hello! I downloaded Lubuntu 10.04 and Mint 9 LXDE. I don't know what I should install on my pc: 1.6Ghz Sempron (amd64), 1GB RAM, Radeon 9250. Distro should be easy-use, quick and stable. If you know another LXDE-based distro, please post here and tell something.
on core both are same mint lxde is made on lubuntu but its in rc i sugest you if you can wait for a week go for mint lxde because it got most of lubuntu bugs fixed as well also its old one but great VectorLinux 6.0 http://vectorlinux.com/screenshots
also like to add xfce distros are very fast as well if you click on office word on lxde and xfce 1st time its all most same or lxde little fast but on second time when you click after closed xfce open it on sec or so while lxde take same time xfce are pretty stable old and recommend you to atleast give it a try mint doesn't have 9 yet so you can try xubuntu 10.04 LTS its complete desktop and supported for 3 years and if you dont like it and still wanna use lxde then go for mint base
yes pure xfce (xubuntu) is fast than ubuntu why so because its light weight less software and less eyecandy please see that http://desktoplinuxreviews.com/2010/05/10/xubuntu-linux-10-04/ also check this its old but good resource http://www.internetling.com/2008/10/18/the-5-best-xfce-based-linux-distributions/ http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/vector.html http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/xubuntu-9-10.html
true linux for all but xubuntu rocks in speed because of xfce and if you remove all those unnecessary software and fronts of other language than you use ......like for example i dont use xchat totem exaile mozilla thunderbird remote desktop viewer .......etc its runs as fast as lxde and pretty much stable -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85ElbqlGex0-
