    Utterly pathetic, if unsurprising.

    The obnoxious thing though is that this:

    is literally a recommendation to download stuff directly from vendors you've never heard of, and to install it as Admin. That may be safer in Windows-land, but conceptually it's bonkers, IMO. Whereas download portals could, at least theoretically, function as repositories for known-safe software.
