Microsoft's Data Execution Prevention

Running Windows XP on my laptop, when bringing up Internet Explorer, I (almost immediately) get the error message Data Execution Prevention.

 

It's probably a toolbar or something. Did you just activated DEP now, or was it on for some time, and only now you got the message?

I have Trend Micro Internet Security, will it locate malware?

 

Maybe.

If not, you can try Avira Live CD (http://www.free-av.com/en/tools/12/avira_antivir_rescue_system.html) or Dr Web Live CD (http://www.freedrweb.com/livecd/?lng=en).

You can also try MBAM, Prevx (scanning is free, cleaning isn't), Hitman Pro.

I don't know much about DEP.
