    Report: Microsoft Pursues Google
    By Matt Hicks
    October 31, 2003

Microsoft Corp. has sought a possible takeover or partnership with Web search leader Google Inc., according to a report published on Friday in the New York Times.

The Times reported, based on interviews with company executives and others, that Microsoft approached Google within the last two months but that so far Google appears ready to pursue its initial public offering instead of any Microsoft deal.

Meanwhile, Google has started weeding through investment bankers as it pursues an IPO, which could yield shares sometime in the first half of 2004, according to the report.

Officials at Google and Microsoft decline to comment on the article.

Microsoft's search ambitions have been growing. In June, the company began testing its own Web crawler called MSNBot, fueling speculation that is would be bringing its Web search in house and that it was pursuing Google :(

    Hi Bigc

Maybe we won't need as much security S/W on our systems no more :D

By the time M$ have finished with it, it will be so full of holes hackers will just be able to break into the search engine and Hijack us from there LOL :D

Maybe Microsoft should change their name to something like:
    1. Microspy
    2. Microsh*t
    3. Microstupid ;)
    4. Microsucks :p

Umm. I'm really having a hard time deciding. I wonder why? o_O

Nah. That would be like software bashing.

On topic: I think MS waited too long to grab this one.

    Regards,

With the "bashing" we've been taking with the security holes that seem to be incorporated into everything they make, I think it would be entirely fair. :D

;) It's not unusual that MS is trying to buy Google. They are doing well. I suspect they will get their financing well enough.

As for MS security holes--why do people seem to think that those are accidental?? :D

Yeah I would like to get away from ms. But I have tried several distros of linux and to be absolutley honest I have a computer to surf and have fun and enjoy it . and I don't think linux is that much fun. Actually a lot of work. I guess I am in the same boat as you useing ms.And stopping it from calling home.
I don't mean to upset any linux users, I guess I am just not ready to stay switched yet. ;)
