They're creating one by putting 5 figures worth of people out of work...

IMO, MS is a company that's on it's way down. They're thrashing about, doing this and that, in a desperate attempt to survive... It's a bit early to say it, but I think they're over....

Seems like the Windows updates department has been devastated by the cuts that have already taken place.

Could it just be said that this is the "tick" (shrink) before the "tock" (new architecture - Win 9)?

Of course, it is set contextually in a time of the baby-boomers nearing retirement and wanting that retirement nest egg to be as large as possible, and age-ism emerging on a global level as Next Gen emerge and practices their version of cronyism. Not a time to be a mature, experienced worker.

Poor quality control of Blue Screen Updates would explain a lot of things.

In regard to that problem, they probably just don't care...

Yes, it's inevitable as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my Win 7 x64 desktop, but I doubt the next OS it runs will be Micro$oft. I dread 'Bork Tuesdays' and actually wait several days before updating.

There are other things M$ ought to come clean about as well.

Yes, waiting several days while others find the bugs is the smart thing to do at this point. I have disabled automatic updates for all of the machines at work.
I am running Windows 8. I don't have the complaints that many do but in general it does not seem that they are releasing the quality of products they used to. I've had too many issues with the stability of Linux updates to use it as a replacement OS. And I won't buy a Mac. I wish there was an actual alternative.

Some heads have to roll at MS Answers for their failed handling of the Borked Tuesdays we've been seeing.

The reporting of Bork Tuesday has been slanted toward MS in many cases as well.

I'm going to buy a Macbook either later this year or early next year. I think I can justify the expense. I've been experimenting with Ubuntu. When Win 7 is ended by MS it looks like a good alternative for my x64 desktop.
