lol, does anyone still use this?

I never used Silverlight for any serious purpose besides testing and it's not installed in my system currently. I just uninstalled Java SE recently, and I hate still being dependent of Flash.

    HTML5 Ftw.

    Thanks Ron!

Honestly, I can't remember the last specific time I needed it, but there was time several months ago when I really wanted to view some content (not pr0n :D ) that required it and I didn't have it installed, so I keep it just in case.

Same here. I don't always need it. The same way I don't always need Flash nor Java. But, sometimes I do require them. :argh:

Microsoft's videos are embed in Silverlight. Not Flash. Other than Microsoft's websites, I don't recall ever seeing Silverlight needed, though. :D

I have it installed here, but honestly, I don't think I've ever used it. But you never know....

I think at this point, a fish ~ Snipped as per TOS ~ in the ocean is more likely to get noticed than a new release of Silverlight. There's only a few places left that even bother with it, and they've had it so long they probably just don't want to screw with changing it. 2021 huh? Lol, so by the time spiders move in and it has started to collapse in on itself, they'll stop supporting it. Gee, sounds an awful lot like another product of theirs :D

I used Siverlight during Olypmpic games 2008, to see matches not passed by TV. Idem sometimes for other sport events. Very nice software.

    Hello,

I have a 64 bit OS but use the 32 bit IE. Microsoft evidently sees my 64 bit OS and that is all it will let me download. The only problem is I need a 32 bit version to run with my 32 bit IE...

Same here but also some videos on MSN.

    64-bit version installs 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

The announcement of Silverlight 5 at MSDN Blogs

    Silverlight may be had here.
The Privacy Statement is a startling read for some :ouch:

It may be available on Windows Update under optional or recommended updates, some have not seen it as of yet.

Yep which means every major plugin (Java, Flash, Silverlight) now has a 64bit version, awesome. :thumb: I hope they make the 64bit IE the default in Windows 8.

This might seem like a bit of a dopey question, but will Silverlight 5 be a normal MS update or will I have to manually install it?

It is an optional Windows update. So you will have to select it then let it install.
