With all do respect, microsoft is way too soft. Seeing the emormous amounts of patch tuesday patches as well as immediate risk one's on whichever day their decided on, it would do much more for their credibility and reputation to comprise ALL these past & present so-called patches, and spend some of that excess capital into re-releasing the entire XP O/S again along with all these updates. Likely for a cost, but if they value at all the market ethics i just mentioned as well as their bottom line, it would fair much better for them to sell then that more complete updated XP at a fraction of the cost from it's initial predecessor.

But then we might just as well expect the planet Venus to grow trees, right?

They're called Service Packs and they're free. SP3 for XP is around the corner.
