I've been searching but I can't find any guidlines on what determinies a members position (i.e. Newbie, Junior Member, Senior Member, etc.) How is this determined and what are the various classes? TIA Jack
Howdy! It's just part of the forum software and is determined by how many posts you have made How many for what, I am unsure
It's all based upon number of posts made on the forum. Stars and title levels increase at certain posting levels, and of course there are staffing positions that override those position titles.
Fasinating, LWM, thanks. I know we've seen bits and pieces of this info here and there, especially with regard to the divisions between newbie-junior member-full member, but this is the first time (since I've been here, anyway) that we've been "treated" to the whole picture. While obviously as "just another member" I can't play with a hands-on copy of that, it looks like YaBB lets you assign your own description or title to each of its classifications, right? It's probably also a safe bet that the default value for each of these is YaBB's own, on the left side. And you threw away "YaBB God"?? Tsk-tsk!
I don't see any reason not to let people see what's what with the board software. It is a publicly available software package after all. And you are correct, the titles are variable and those were the defaults on the left. I've been on a YaBB board or two that kept the YaBB God title, but I think that is just a little too much. Actually, the post count thresholds are also variable (via a separate configuration screen), though those levels are fairly common, I believe.
