    I keep getting MBR error 3 after activating the secure zone on my PC. I have a 250GB HD, 255MB RAM. P4 2.6. I partitioned the HD with the C being 10GB. I have a DATA partion which is 214GB. a backup which is 5GB and the remaining 5GB are for the secure zone.

    The PC still boots to windows except for the MBR error. I want to be able to press F11 to load acronis in case i have to restore the system. The image that i placed in the secure zone seems to be fine, i have restored it a couple times since yesterday. i am hoping that i don't have to start over with a fresh install of windows. i have done that once already and have better things to do with my day.

    and i am running windows 2000. i tried using a 98 boot disk to fix the MBR. windows keeps making the 5GB backup partition the E drive but i want the 214GB partion to be the E drive, and does not solve the problem.

    any suggestions or questions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello BDNiner,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please make sure that you use the latest build (937) of Acronis True Image 8.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

    To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
    then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

    Pease also do the following:

    - Insert a diskette into the floppy drive and run the mbrautowrite_en.exe file;

    - Once the floppy is written, boot the computer from it and confirm that you want to fix the master boot record.

    If you do not have a floppy drive then please do the following:

    - Use this ISO image to create a special CD;

    - Once the CD is written, boot the computer from it and confirm that you want to fix the master boot record.

    After you will fix your hard drive's MBR using one of the listed above approaches please reactivate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager and see if the problem still persists.

    If the problem still persists then please create Acronis Report in the way described below:

    - Download and run Acronis Report Utility;
    - Select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;
    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed
    with creation of the bootable floppy;
    - Boot the computer from this diskette and wait for
    report creation process to finish;
    - Collect the report file from the floppy;

    Send this report to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
