Apparantly, old logo is being kept for this product, and new logo as company
logo. They say they are looking at, and already developing (one) new products.
Wonder what they're up to? Maybe a suite with firewall etc.?

Actually it's bad. Really bad. From my tests with about 30.000 samples (mostly droppers and installers, so no viruses) I collected in the last week only about 10% are detected by Oracle. I would have expected a better detection rate. Given that they have plenty of false positives. Reducing those will ultimately lower the detection rate even further given their approach based on statistical analysis of file layout, file name and file attributes.

Essentially MBAMs signature database is one huge text file. In earlier versions of MBAM the rules file wasn't even encrypted as it is today. So implementing an incremental update for that is trivial. All you would have to do is implement a mechanism to remove or add lines to that text based signature database. In fact I would consider that more important than a new scheduler. Because having a modem connection at the weekend sucks when you have to download a 4 MB rules file a few times a day.

The new heru engine is not built to detect everything. It's goal is to raise the detection rate. Those 10% may have not been detected without the new heru engine. Also this is a new tech, they got to tune it to maximum detection without ton's of FP's.

Sure, 10% more detection rate is great. We don't have to argue about that. But it's not what I would call "powerful".

The "tech" they use is far from being new. It may be new to them. Anyway ... given their current approach reducing false positives will ultimately lower detection rate even further. My estimation would be that detection rate would be somewhere around 5 - 8% after they finished tuning it.

Got 1.45 via e-mail ok. They recommend uninstalling 1.44 and re-booting.
Should the MBAM removal tool be used? Better late than never.

Oh man... I got error codes both when trying to start it after reboot, and when trying to UNINSTALL it! o_O :doubt:

Just before that I'd had the most serious BSODs ever on this installation of Windows 7. (:D Yes, like just one wasn't enough - but that's Windows for you, right?) It was, according to their repair-tools, caused by their latest hotfix!!!

Yep, the hotfix might have screwed up a lot of things since I'd to make a heavy restoration. MBAM started fine before lock-up and reboot.

whats wrong with the current gui?
    its simple and works.
improving the already great detection and removal is much more important.

    That is at least what I did : Uninstalled MBAM 1.44 - rebooted - executed MBAM-clean - rebooted - installed MBAM 1.45 .

Btw it is running fine here :)

Sure it's not all that software (or test malware) you have running that's heating up your pc? ;)

Surely. It looks really amateurish. Not a very talented/imaginative graphic designer did this methinks. But it seems they're going with it, and some say they like it. Old one miles better imho.
