Maximumsearch.net

    Hey

    Last night I noticed my home page had been set to Maximumsearch.net. It also redirects yahoo & google to the same site.

    I used Spybot S&D and it found some problems which I removed. THings were then fine, until I reboot. Now when I boot up the PC and open IE SpywareGuard tells me my homepage etc is trying to be changed to maximumsearch.net.

    Anyone know how to remove maximumsearch? It does say uninstal on the bottom left of the page and it links me to '/uninstall.exe' depending on which site im trying to get onto, but I'm not sure whether to trust it or not.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    you have a CWS hijack, the new update to cwshredder out today cures this one

    First download CWshredder from http://www.thespykiller.co.uk then Run it
    Close all browser windows, click on the cwshredder.exe then click "FIX" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.
    and make sure you follow the advice about the security updates listed on the last page, in order to prevent re-infection, otherwise you will be continually reinfected

    *Note: The simplest way to make sure you have all the security patches is to go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates & service Packs"

    Thanks alot! The problem seems to be fine after running CWshredder, it seems it was something to do with sysinit as it was also causing a problem on startup.

    I'll post up a log from Hijack this this below, it still seems to mention maximumsearch.net? Although the actual pages seem fine...

    There is some debris left to clean out.

    Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
    These easily get lost in a Temp folder.

    Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:
