    Hey again -- Is there any way to manually download the Win7 updates to disk on a clean computer in order to install them on a new computer offline before connecting to the internet? Or alternatively, can you block all ports and/or IP addresses on the router except the MS update site (if so, what would this address be)? I'm a newbie to all of this, so forgive me if my questions seem a bit basic. Thanks.

    Hi;

    I rarely use IE8. And my Windows Update is "off".

    I do manual install of updates for Win7 x86. I have 2 hdd's with Win7 x86. 1 as backup since I am trying it yet. Plus a Paragon Backup restore of it. Anyway, I manually download updates via Firefox and save them to disk. I check the updates via the guide at COU and here at wilders'.

    To run it, I just double-click the update file.

    Am selective of updates due to a not so very good Vista experience.

    To manually download the updates, search for the KB number. For example, "KB2388210" or "KB2388210 download".

    A good tool for anyone who wants to keep his/her system up-to-date by manually downloading and installing updates is Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer. It's what I'm using. It does require the Automatic Updates and Server services to be set to at least Manual but it makes finding and downloading the missing security updates much easier.

    This site might be what you're looking for:
    Code:
    http://www.softwarepatch.com/
    Not only for the Windows updates, also some other common softwares and drivers.
