free: Running UAC with Norton UAC tool
    paid: PrevX
other free option: When Avira V9 beta with proactive comes out of beta
    future option: Avast V5

Norton 2010 possibly as well? I've yet to go into further "investigation" (:D) since the downloader didn't work before today, but heard from other sources it seems it indeed has implemented cloud-technology being used by SONAR and probably also Advanced Heuristics. I suppose the new advanced option for SONAR has something to do with it, being set to Automatic by default.

im currently using Avast, but do u know wer i can get more info on v5 since u say it seems to have some sort of proactive security measures?

im mainly looking for a stand-alone app, and the idea of Symantec and a cloud-security system gives me a shiver...

Avast V5 was scheduled last Q of 2008, now rumours go it will be launched last quarter of 2009.\ It should contain some sort of proactive module like the one Avira is beta testing now.

I also agree that Prevx is a good choice.

If it runs great and alongside other software and doesn't slow surfing-speeds it might actually be very interesting. :) Also depends on its operation (how quiet it's).
