thanks -- grabbed it (now deciding whether to install...)

is it partially or fully compatible with 64-bit windows (including xp)?

by fully compatible i mean equal protection on 64-bit windows to 32-bit windows in terms of end results.

Let me know what you think...as an AIS user, we may need to turn off Behavior Shield? Yes...No?

Does the behavior shield really do anything in Avast yet? FWIU- the behavior shield was not yet fully functional as a blocker, but just taking data as of now. I could be wrong though.

BTW- does mamutu still conflict with AdMuncher?

By default the Avast BB is configured to ''auto decide'' so in my opinion is highly recommended to enter the Avast BB settings and change it from ''autodecide'' to ''ask'' and now you would see it working :)

i havent tried it personally yet, but the response i got from Emsisoft a while ago is that the conflict was fixed by admuncher.

ok thanks for the info...surprising since it was always admuncher's policy in the past to not fix conflicts...maybe they have changed. Anyway, I'll give mamutu a try.

It's definitively worth a try! I like it, on my second PC I just have ESET Nod32 running, so Mamutu is a nice plus for ppl who just rely on any AV+Windows FW.

Took this offer up. Extremely simple to obtain and the set up process is only about a 5 minute job.

Mamutu is useful in the sense that it detects malware by the actions programs are taking on your computer. Thus it can help in identifying zero-day threats which haven't been entered into an AV signature database. Its a good software to have along side an antivirus package.

If your security suite has behavior monitoring perhaps try to work out which would be more effective and disable the one which has less effectiveness on tests done or just have both running.

I installed it on 64-bit Windows XP Pro/SP2 that currently has Look'n'Stop for firewall and Prevx (Facebook Edition) for AV. Mamutu installed in the "\Program Files (x86)" directory and shows up as mamutu.exe *32 in Task Manager so it's not "native" 64-bit for whatever that is worth, but it seems to be working fine. It's given me several pop-ups for 'suspicious' processes e.g. some of my custom AutoHotkey scripts and KeePass, both of which make sense as suspects. The pop-ups are similar to HIPS components of certain firewalls (e.g. OnlineArmor and PrivateFirewall), except they appear only for suspicious processes instead of all new processes.

I think Mamutu might be a good choice for people who want something HIPS-like (but smarter) to go with a firewall that doesn't have HIPS (e.g. Look'n'Stop, Rising Firewall, Windows 7 Firewall (with Windows Firewall Control)), but I think it would be overkill to run alongside a firewall with HIPS (unless the HIPS component is disabled). Currently Mamutu is using 00 of CPU and under 2,000 K of mem (per Task Manager), although it's too early to say whether or not it slows my 64-bit XP down to any noticeable degree.

I didn't feel any impact on my system right now and after benching with 3Dmark it has no impact on system performance during gaming, per expample.

Using a BB and HIPS isn't the overkill as you think it might be. If they don't conflict a BB can give you important additional information on some processes and actions because the HIPS will always be hard to understand in some situations.

Same Here. I remembered that this happened the last time I tried to put in a license key. Never did work, why offer the deal if you can't activate it properly.
