I run Malwarebytes weekly. I just started getting warning messages on two files:

    \program files\sony corporation\smartwi connection utility\smartwi.exe
    \program files\sony\vaio my memory center\vaio mymemcenter.exe

Also, Malwarebytes doesn't seem to run to completion after finding these files and no log file is created.

These files appear to have been on my computer for awhile, for example, smartwi.exe has create and mod dates in 2008.

How can I determine if these warnings are valid? What do I do about them?

This is the first time I've encountered this situation.

    Thanks

looks very much like false positive. Report it to MBAM and upload and check it via virustotal (this last thing only as a generic advice)

    Thank you Cudni!

VT reports they are ok. I will report it to MBAM.

I updated Malwarebytes - new version + new definitions. Alert is gone on these files.
