So you now work for Malwarebytes Pedro? If that's the case then what's your new title "VP of Anti-exploit division" ? ;)

Anyhow, it's nice to see a company like Malwarebytes get bigger slowly but steady :thumb:

Unfortunately for me, I have to agree. After I installed it everything worked fine, but once I rebooted it simply disappeared from the face of the earth. I could not get the tray icon to show, or launch the app no matter what I did. W7 x64 SP1

In reply to some posts above, the idea for now is that once it comes out of beta it will be similar to MBAM (trial/pro). Depending on how it performs in the future there might also be a free version, but this is unknown at the moment. It is very early stage and these things are not finalized yet.

Yes both David (ZVL CTO) and I are now working at Malwarebytes. It is a great company that has done amazing things and we feel its a great fit as together we can really advance development of Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit products and research of new anti-exploit techniques :)

In regards to the bug of the traybar icon disappearing, this is a known bug from way back. Simply open taskmanager/processexplorer as admin, kill the process and then start it again from Start, Programs. That should show the icon and program.

    This is great news.

MBAM is such a solid company with great product development.

This is a validation of the proof of concept for ExploitShield.

I expect ES to now grow and develop and the bugginess will go away.

I would not have purchased ES before, but after MBAM gets involved and works it for awhile, I'm in.

  6. Does the beta has a time bomb (stops working after a certain date)?

Yes, December 31, 2013. But we are confident it will be out of beta before then... hopefully way before then.

  8. Beta blocks startup of word documents by clicking on them (e.g. your lisence rtf document), okay uninstalling now for bug and non-free (I use only free software :D it was fun while it lasted :'( )

That was a known bug of the Corporate Edition which was fixed a while back. I guess the fix didn't make it into the Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. We will release a new build tonight or tomorrow (0.9.2.1100) which fixes this PLUS activates the Shield/Un-Shield functionality.

    Per MBAM forum:

This indicates it will be a paid version. They will probably offer a lifetime license same as MBAM Pro I would imagine. Hopefully in the same price range which would make it affordable for most home users. Question is if people will pay for it or dump it in favor of EMET which is free.

While EMET is free, it is a different approach to exploits compared to AE. They can actually work together.

I noticed the only program I use that is covers is Chrome. Isn't Chrome already pretty much exploit-proof from its sandbox? Is there any point in me using this program?

Normally when Chrome hits an exploit kit its not Chrome that gets popped, but rather some addon component like Java, Adobe, etc. Do you have any of those?

Also Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit protects other OS components from vulnerability exploits like wscript, Help Center, Windows Help, Windows Media Player, etc. which are sometimes used by exploit kits.

Does this software run OK with Trusteer Rapport? I saw a couple of postings that state it has worked out its previous conflicts with TR.

Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit will be free for anyone that has posted above me -- Pedro will make sure you get licenses.

That being said, I think what Pedro and David have created is amazing. There are a ton of quirks we'll need to work through and definitely need to put a pretty UI around it, but all in due time :). Stay tuned for updates on this and if you haven't already, sign up for our newsletter so we can send the details </shameless_plus>

    Thanks everyone

I should also add that the program will not open by clicking on the desktop icon, can only open by using the icon in the taskbar.
