This latest beta is running in another snapshot, and is taking longer for whatever reason compared to the scan above. Still running... Spoiler: screenshots
What is the relationship between Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit (Beta) and the built in Anti-rootkit scanner in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), v 2.1? If I have MBAM do I need the former? And if the Beta is still being improved, do these improvements get put into the MBAM?
Good questions, pling_man. I would also like to know whether or not Anti-Rootkit is really necessary for MBAM (Premium) users.
MBAR with its shorter release cycle usually is one-two steps ahead of the MBAM's anti-rootkit scanner as this utility was intended as a tool for a quick response against new threats. This is also one of the reasons why it is always remains Beta
Almost all AV manufacturers have some form of a stand alone rootkit scanner. The scanner employed in most AV products is a stripped down version that primarily scans the OS driver directory. The stand alone scanners will scan the entire hard drive plus MBR.
