    mm..conflicts are always there..system clatter takes a huge place there too.that is why a clean installation/image/snapshot is recommended when trying security programs..especialy ones hooking so deep.
    MD is probably the most snapy i have ever tried..too shaby it doesn't yet work in vista LUA,i'd get it on in a heart beat.

    A few of us have reported reboots, one with a BSOD, with only this latest release. I don't see how this confuses people.

    Re: Malware Defender 2.0.4 is released

    Xiaolin,

    This version has been my first experience with a blue screen crash. The crash was DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the stop error was STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0057005C, 0x00000002, 0x00000008, 0x0057005C). The blue screen occurred about 1-2 minutes after install. Also upon reboot, I got an error that the Malware Defender driver may be corrupt and to re-install. The Malware Defender GUI would not load. I couldn't re-install because the install executable was being blocked from launching. The uninstall executable via Add/Remove Programs was also blocked. I had to boot into safe mode to uninstall version 2.0.4.

    I had to revert to version 2.0.0 beta 5 as it is the only one that I had saved. Do you have version 2.0.3 available to download so that I could re-install it?

    the 2.0.4 is the only version (so far so good) that doesn't gave me my "demoneye problem " any more , and i am talking on the randomization 90 - 100 % cpu usage......... dont know what Xiaolin change in the code of MD but something absolutely got changed .

    weird but i am happy :) , now i can rely test it :D

    Re: Malware Defender 2.0.4 is released

    There may be a bug. I recreated the installer. You may download again and try it.

    You can also download v2.0.3 at http://www.torchsoft.com/download/md_setup_2.0.3.exe

    NOTE:
    If anyone find more than one "Malware Defender Driver" in the kernel modules window, please do following steps to remove the driver marked not verified.
    1. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<driver name>.
    2. Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers in explorer, delete the driver file.
    3. Restart windows.

    If you got 'access denied' error message, please reboot to safe mode to delete the file and registry.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi xiaolin,

    I just installed from this link, and moments later I got a BSOD as Spidey did. There is only the one Malware Defender driver (verified). Should I have uninstalled the previous version, or is it okay to install overtop as I did?

    xiaolin, just wondering if you have givin any more thought into implementing a full firewall as an option into MD?

    Re: Malware Defender 2.0.4 is released

    If no further BSOD and only find one Malware Defender driver. It should be OK to use it.

    I have found the bug and will fix it in next release.

    If anyone upgrade MD to v2.0.4 in Windows XP, please reboot system immediately after upgrading.

    Thanks,
    xiaolin

    It is not in my plan yet but I will think about it when some more important features are finished.

    xiaolin is there any way to add explorer.exe to run all *.exe , *.com files?
    coz i cant see it possible under child group

    i ask it because when MD is under normal selection and try to execute and such files extension 1 or 2 files are gave the MD allow/disallow screen (that ok) and the 3 or 4 , stuck my pc , give malware defender.exe 90-100% cpu usage... and i can kick out of this ONLY by reboot .

    cheers

    Rules Tab,
    Application Rules - System,
    Double click explorer,
    File Tab - Add
    Wildcards can be used, for example:
    Folder=* (any folder)
    File=*.exe (any .exe)

    I downloaded 2.0.4 again and so far no issues. I checked for multiple kernel modules and did not find any. I also rebooted after the install as you recommended. Thanks for the quick response!

    I think Kees1958 method will work better. My method was not related to your problem.

    10x a lot Kees1958 :) your method work also .

    BTW i notice something, if i reverse the changed you suggest me , to see it the pop up MD screen us back , and your solution works , the only way to reverse i succeed is exit MD and than run it , MD seems doest accept rules changing only by exit it and re run.

    any idea what wrong? or its another "demoneye problem ":argh:

    @BELLGAMIN

    Whatta ya got to do to make this HIPS click like your gloating over :cool:

    This is new one chalked full of interesting security adventures, so do you think theres enough time for me to fine tune this puppy? Or is there a basic ruleset/template that will stop me grumbling over evertime i install a new version of it only to have to uninstall it again?

    Curious
