    Hi,

    First of all:
I wasn't sure where to post this: here in Privacy Software or in Other Firewalls.
So: mods/admins, please feel free to move this ;)

    Ok, here I go:

I just upgraded my MailWasher Pro from version 4.0 to 4.1

I am really puzzled why, according to my firewall, MailWasher wanted to get access to:
    activex.microsoft.com
    codecs.microsoft.com

    I simply don't understand this....

Please note that I'm on Windows 98 SE, IE 5.5 SP2 (yeah, I know....).

Of course, my system could be playing games with me o_O

Anyone else ever seen this kind of thing?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your replies !

    MCT,
Well, according to my firewall, it was MailWasher........

    SPC,
Have you installed version 4.1 on top (meaning without uninstalling the existing one)? I did install over the top, as usually with MailWasher.
I noticed in the change-log that new installations will now be installed in a different location:
It was (and still is on my system):
    C:\Program Files\MailWasher Pro\MailWasher.exe
If I remember me well (will re-check it later) it will be:
    C:\Program Files\firetrust\MailWasher.exe

But I don't think that that was causing what I noticed in my firewall.

At the moment I haven't installed Benign...

Hi Fanj, No such behaviour here from MW 4.1, I would contact Nick Bolton at www.firetrust.com he is always very responsive to users problems and is in the best possible position to answer your question.

I loaded as per the instructions right on top of my 4.0 .
Nick or hamish are excellent at lending any assistance if required . I think firetrust has one of the best software support services that Iv come across so far .
Benign Fran is really amazing ( i would be interested to hear your opinion ) personally I think Its far better than any anti virus programme at email protection hands down . But it would be neat to have your opinion.
Mailwasher is in C:\Program Files\MailWasher Pro on my system
I do not remember receiving out of the ordinary firewall alert than normally i would receive.
